In this short documentary, I take you inside 7 Films Lab in Plovdiv, Bulgaria—an analog photography lab that’s hard to define in one sentence. Viktor describes it as a project, a creators’ collective, a place for photography, and sometimes even a bar. What stood out to me most is the culture: they don’t just “do the service” for you—they invite you into the process. If someone comes in not knowing anything about film development, Viktor’s first instinct is to ask, “Do you want to develop it by yourself?” and then guide them step-by-step. Ilko walks us through what it actually means to make photography tangible again: shooting a roll, developing it, and then printing—what he calls “shooting on paper.” The trays, the timer, the light, the moment the image slowly appears—this is the payoff, and it’s deeply human.
