First, I talk about portfolio: doing passion projects and spec work before you’re “ready,” experimenting across different fields, and creating a digital presence that’s an accurate representation of what you can do (website + social). Then I go into pitching: analyzing a brand’s campaigns and values, sending ready-to-produce ideas (not vague “let’s brainstorm” emails), and finding the right contact through LinkedIn and creator breadcrumbs. Most importantly, I’m reminding you not to give up—ghosting and “no’s” are part of the process, and consistency plus improvement compounds over time.
