In this video I test Ziva, an AI plugin built specifically for Godot, to see how far we can push “building features by typing text” without turning our brains off. The whole point for me isn’t replacing humans or letting AI do everything—it’s removing repetitive busy work so I can spend more time on mechanics and the actual player experience. I walk you through a manual install (drop it into an add-ons folder), authenticate, and then pick a model right inside Godot. And yes, I strongly recommend version control (I use GitHub Desktop here) so you can revert when the AI inevitably makes a mistake. Then I start with a simple request: add double jump to the player. Because Ziva is connected to the project, it can read things like the Input Map and edit the right scripts without me copy-pasting code back and forth. It also summarizes what changed and explains the logic, which is critical—if you don’t understand what the AI did, you’ll lose time later. After that I push a bigger request: a jump-velocity power-up with a countdown UI, and I even feed it an error to fix. Finally, I build a background selection screen (day/sunset/night) and then a player selection screen, reusing my existing scene transitions and autoload global. A couple small UI fixes aside, the speed of iteration is honestly the big win here.
