About This Video

Welcome into Vlog 45. I kick things off in the Wellington store on a rough-weather Saturday, showing you what our day-to-day actually looks like: sorting used LEGO into item type, then into colour, and using a reverse-colour stack so it’s faster when I’m listing. We’re sitting around 135,000 parts in the store, and because I do this part-time alongside a full-time job, the goal is steady progress—roughly 1,000 parts every couple of days—without the systems falling over. Then the week goes absolutely nuts: we pick up a Marketplace collection listed at $500 and it’s easily the best haul we’ve had all year (around 50–60kg). It’s pre-sorted into part type, the containers are in great nick, and the minifigure parts are just outrageous—about 2.3kg across 12 containers, with Simpsons, Star Wars, Disney/CMFs, capes, printed tiles, and some genuinely big-ticket figures (including a Gentleman Ghost). I walk through how I’m building figures, separating “supplier” parts vs collectible/printed value, and pushing uploads fast—nearly $2k listed in a week, with sales already coming in. I finish with my simple buying tips: trust your nose (avoid disgusting hauls), look for signs the collection was cared for (organisers help), check for instruction condition, and search smart online (avoid “huge LEGO and a lot / non-LEGO” listings; sorted-by-colour tubs can be gold).
