About This Video

In this behind-the-scenes Q&A I’m answering your questions about what it actually looks like to run a BrickLink store from Wellington, New Zealand in 2024. We talk honestly about the “end of the earth” problem, shipping, and whether it’s even smart to do this from NZ. My take is pretty simple: we’ve got a smaller local market, but a really active AFOL community, and we’re busy enough selling mostly within New Zealand (with the odd Australia order) that the store can still grow without needing to chase international shipping headaches. I also get into the real day-to-day stuff: what colours and parts are the worst to part out (those near-identical wedges and metallic silvers can be painful), what I do with stickers on used parts (if it’s crooked, it’s usually straight into the discard bin), and how many hours I’m actually putting in each week. For me it’s around 25–30 hours, but I don’t think you should treat BrickLink like a straight hourly wage early on—it’s an investment and a hustle, and it needs consistency. If your orders are slow, I share what helped us: stay competitive on pricing, build trust with your local LEGO community, keep uploading, and use social media to show your process and service.
