About This Video

In this vlog I take you properly behind the scenes of how we’re running Kiwi Brick Exchange (BrickLink/BrickOwl sellers here in Wellington, NZ). We kick things off with a bit of real life—dropping off a bulk lot, then scoping out a craft market we’re selling at (minifigs, sets, polybags, and our custom 3D name badges). Back in the store I’m picking orders, talking through the shelving we use (Pinnacle “Hardware” system from Bunnings), and sharing where the store’s at right now: around 990,000 items and about 10,000 lots holding steady. This week’s also a Q&A, so I answer questions about fake LEGO in bulk, colour identification (flat vs metallic vs chrome silver, and brown vs reddish brown), what hasn’t sold since we started, what I do with instructions (they’re literally on the ground…), and how we approach tax/GST (talk to an accountant—our situation is under the threshold so we’re not claiming/charging GST). The other big theme is space and workflow—why uploading slows when the drawers are full, why I like the Kmart drawers, and why we sometimes focus on smaller, higher-value categories (like minifig parts) when storage is tight. We also crack into a very mixed bulk haul—lots of junk, but some absolute wins like space helmets, Star Wars bits, and Marvel/Toy Story parts. It’s a good reminder that even when a bulk lot looks rough, a handful of high-value minifig accessories can pay you back fast if your sorting system is solid.
