About This Video

In this first episode of my “learning pottery in 30 days” series, I’m taking you with me to Jingdezhen—aka ceramic heaven—and showing what it actually looks like to arrive, settle in, and start training. The video is structured like a little countdown (D-3, D-2, D-1) into Day 1, so you can feel the ramp-up before I even touch clay: getting oriented, mentally switching into apprentice mode, and setting expectations for what I want out of this month. Once class starts, you’ll see the real rhythm: intense practice days mixed with rest days (because your hands and brain need it). I share early throwing lessons, the tiny wins and the very normal struggles, plus what I’m noticing about learning in Jingdezhen—where the craft is everywhere and the standards are high. I also take a break to visit Huangling Village, because part of understanding ceramics here is understanding the place. If you’re pottery-curious or you’ve been dreaming about Jingdezhen masters, this is my honest “Day 1–4” entry point into the journey.
