About This Video

This is the fifth (and final) episode of my “how I learned pottery in 30 days” Jingdezhen series, and it’s basically my little debrief after leaving Jingdezhen and taking a breather in Beijing. I bring you along from the travel moment into a quieter reset day, and then I unbox my finished pieces—aka the most satisfying and slightly terrifying part, because you finally see what actually survived and what choices you made in clay. Over breakfast I talk through what this month taught me: I’m obviously not a “master” after 30 days, but I am way more confident about how I learn. A big takeaway for me is remembering it’s just clay—like, you can remake things, you can fail loudly, and you can still keep going. I also reflect on why making things is cool (and kind of life-saving), how to “learn to learn better,” and why sometimes you really do have to take the leap even when you feel unready. If you’re thinking about pottery lessons, an apprenticeship, or a Jingdezhen trip, this is my honest wrap-up: progress is real, but it’s not magic—it’s reps, curiosity, and showing up.
