In this video I’m kicking off a brand new playlist on my channel: luxury hotel reviews. I’m in Auckland and I’ve checked into SO/ Auckland, a luxury boutique hotel slapbang in the centre of the city, right by the harbour. I stayed in room 802 (one of their Collection rooms) and I walk you through everything from the moment you enter—starting with that very glam, gold-and-black bathroom, the gorgeous roll top bath (yes, I did take a proper bubble bath with a mocktail), and the enclosed shower and toilet setup. I also show you the room layout, storage, desk space for working, and that massive wall-length window that brings in loads of natural light (city view for me, but you can pay extra for harbour view). I pop into the facilities too—gym and the SO/ Spa area—although I was gutted to find the pool/sauna side was closed on the public holiday. Breakfast at Harbour Society on the 15th floor was a real highlight: a big buffet, omelette station, DIY juicing, and yes, I absolutely went from “healthy” coconut yoghurt to full-on naughty red velvet cake. At the end I give you my honest pros and cons, including a few scuffs/marks in the room, the missing robe (they brought it up quickly), and the slightly odd-looking textured glass. Overall, I slept really well and I’d definitely come back—especially to try a different room type.
