Today I’m sharing a cozy winter day in the life at home with my toddler. We had snow outside, so it was the perfect day for slow homemaking — making soft pretzels, doing laundry, cooking simple meals, and spending time playing preschool with Alice. These quiet winter days are some of my favorite: staying warm inside, enjoying simple routines, and finding little moments of joy in the everyday. I hope this video feels cozy and comforting to watch. ❄️🤍 Thank you so much for being here and following along with our real life at home! About This Video

Good morning from a very snowy Monday. In this cozy winter day-in-the-life, I’m home with Alice while Alvin heads into work early (he’s director of dining at a college, so those students still need to be fed even in snow and ice). I start the day with my usual high-protein breakfast—4 oz egg whites + one egg—plus hash browns and a ton of salsa, and I’m also testing a new bourbon apple chicken sausage. We bundle up for snow play and shoveling, then come inside for warm tea, laundry, and a little treat because I was recipe testing chocolate cake donuts for my bakery (Alice helped with “snow sprinkles,” obviously). After that, I share what “playing preschool” looks like in our house—lots of reading and play-based learning. Our current unit is food and where it comes from, so we pulled a stack of library books to match. During nap time, I’m honest about how I try to use that window to rest when I can (less scrolling, more audiobook/Kindle vibes, or in this case a documentary). Later, we mill flour and make soft pretzels together—salty and cinnamon sugar—plus a use-what-we-have stuffed pepper casserole situation for dinner. It’s simple routines, cozy food, toddler life, and those little everyday moments that make winter days feel really sweet.
