I headed back to Utah for my third trip of the year with a close group of friends, and this one ended up being an absolute heater. We kicked things off at a familiar first-night camp with a ton of people chasing the same thing—sunrise shots. It was brutally windy, so instead of letting the tent flap all night, I ran my “wind mode” sleep setup inside the Tacoma: passenger seat out, platform in, pad + bag + blankets, and Odi posted up comfy. Simple dinner, long drive, and we called it. From there we got into the Moab zone and dropped down Schaffer Trail—Court drove my Tacoma while I did my best Forrest Gump impression running down the road. We had a quick reset in town (shower, laundry, the whole deal) because one of the guys wasn’t feeling great, then we pushed to a truly epic camp with a sheer drop nearby. I’m not disclosing that spot—try to figure it out—but I will say the entry got a little rowdy and I took a line I definitely shouldn’t have, bottomed the truck out, and learned my lesson. We wrapped the trip after some wild weather (rain + wind) and a slower, sunny morning dumping footage and catching up—Utah just keeps pulling me back.
