Odi and I headed way off the beaten path into the Northwest backcountry of Montana, following a maze of rugged forest roads until it finally felt like the world got quiet. This one’s heavy on the “just be out here” vibe—wind in the pines, a small responsible fire, and the kind of solitude that’s hard to find if you don’t go looking for it. I kept the filming pretty simple too: low angles, camp details, cooking sounds—basically the Montana ASMR you guys seem to love. For dinner, I made island teriyaki chicken thighs (Costco thighs, Safeway marinade), broccoli in my Sea to Summit collapsible pot, and fresh rice with a little rice cooker since I’ve got power on board. If you’re an electrical nerd like me, it was pulling about 300 watts and cooked in roughly a half hour—pretty efficient. In the morning I tested a pour-over kit I’ve had forever but never used out camping, and it actually made solid coffee (yes, with Premier Protein). Then we packed up and started working back toward town while I poked around more dirt roads to explore new areas.
