In this video, Odi and I return to one of our favorite remote fire lookout towers deep in the Montana wilderness. This time, the weather offered a whole new experience. We cooked a cozy backcountry meal, soaked in the sweeping mountain views, and even had an unexpected visitor show up at the tower. If you love off-grid adventures, Montana travel, or peaceful nature escapes, this one’s for you. Thanks as always for the support — Odi and I appreciate every one of you joining us on these backcountry journeys. 🐾 🐶 Support the Channel & Buy Odi a Treat: https://buymeacoffee.com/hunterpauley 🗺️ Interested in getting to spots like this? About This Video

Odi and I headed back up to one of my favorite remote fire lookouts in Montana, and this time the vibe was completely different than the stormy night I had here before. I gave a quick tour of the inside—two cots, a stocked cooking area, and plenty of airflow with the windows and door open. For dinner I kept it simple but legit: steak garlic parmesan tortellini. It’s one of those meals that tastes way fancier than it is, doesn’t take a ton of ingredients, and cleanup is easy when you’ve got a collapsible pot to toss in the truck fridge. The next morning was one of those perfect lookout mornings—sun shining, still windy (which I’ll take all day because the mosquitoes get nasty when it’s dead calm). I also found a tick and showed how I’ve always dealt with them using heat so they back themselves out. After coffee, I used my power station to run a mini waffle maker and made huckleberry waffles with fresh Montana-picked berries (and yeah, those things are expensive if you buy them). Before packing out, I dug into the lookout history book—built in 1929 originally, current tower from 1957—and it’s a reminder why I keep coming back to these places: the views are insane, but the history is even wilder.
