In this video, Odi and I spend the night in a 104-year-old fire lookout tower deep in the Montana backcountry — a historic structure once used to spot wildfires across miles of wilderness. Perched high above the mountains, this hand-built fire tower from 1922 offers a panoramic view of untouched forest and endless sky. No running water. No power. Just the sound of the wind through the pines, the crackle of the wood stove, and the golden light of a Montana sunset. We take you through the full experience — from the trail leading up and what it’s really like spending a cold night in this century-old lookout. Tag along and enjoy the epic views that this historic location has to offer. 🔥 Support the Channel & Buy Odi a Treat https://buymeacoffee.com/hunterpauley 🗺 Find Spots Like This with OnX Offroad — Save 20% with code GAINZ https://www.onxmaps.com/offroad/app?rstr=4492&utm_source=Roster&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=HunterPauley-4492 🛠 Gear I Use & Recommend (Affiliate links help support the channel at no extra cost to you) 🏕️ Camping Gear: Edison Light Stick (cylinder light): https://amzn.to/4oIinIE 20lb Propane Tank Cover – https://amzn.to/3UWjO9m Kelty Low Loveseat – https://amzn.to/4hOnSlT Jetboil Flash – https://amzn.to/4gSNOM7 iKamper Disco Skottle (Use code "GAINZ") – https://rstr.co/ikamper/gainz 270º FSR Free Standing Awning (Use "GAINZ" to save 5%) – https://alnk.to/dAnucWQ Fiskars Wood Splitting Axe – https://amzn.to/4gvt5h4 3-in-1 CO, Humidity & Temp Meter – https://amzn.to/4g3V6Mk Black Diamond Moji Lantern – https://amzn.to/3YP0pss Milwaukee 8" Pruning Chainsaw – https://amzn.to/4juSSsi Blackbeard Fire Plugs – https://amzn.to/4hxBVvN King Camp Table 80x60 (Code: HUNTERDEAL for $15 off) – https://shorturl.at/oH9Wn 📸 Camera Gear: Sony a7S III (video) – https://amzn.to/3YunFfo Sony A7 IV (photo) – https://amzn.to/3UzBdEW DJI Mavic 3 Pro (ND Filters) – https://amzn.to/48Bq9gG Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 – https://amzn.to/3UvDZLy Tamron 17-28mm f2.8 – https://amzn.to/3UxIQvI Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 – https://amzn.to/3Yzmpay Peak Design Tripod – https://amzn.to/3Cc9mVi Neewer Carbon Fiber Tripod – https://amzn.to/3AkgQoB Sennheiser Condenser Microphone - https://amzn.to/4mBvv0Z 📬 Send Odi & I Mail Hunter Pauley P.O. About This Video

Guys, welcome back to the channel—Odi and I went back to one of the most unreal places I’ve ever stayed: a 104-year-old Montana fire lookout that was built in 1922. What’s wild is we booked it for the very last night of the season again, and I swear there’s just something about being the last person to walk out, close it up, and know it’ll sit there through another Montana winter. No power, no running water—just a wood stove, a drafty old tower, and those panoramic views that honestly move me every time. In this video I walk you through the tower setup, the sleeping situation (simple cot + old reliable Costco pad), and the plan for the night: get the fire ripping before sunset, capture the golden light, and then cook dinner on top of the stove. I talk about what it’s really like trying to keep a fire going all night in an old, leaky, drafty building—because once that stove goes out, it cools off fast. We end the night with hot chocolate and Peak Refuel mountain berry cobbler, then wake up early to restart the fire, make French press coffee in the Jetboil, and catch sunrise before closing the place down. Last lookout of the season—thanks for being here, and seriously… make sure to go camping.
