I wasn’t even planning on filming in Oregon, but sometimes you stumble onto a spot that’s too insane not to share. Odi and I were passing through on a quick run to Super Pacific to get a new heater installed in my Super Pacific X1, and someone was kind enough to send me a few coordinates. The first couple spots were taken, and this was basically my last shot before I resigned myself to a campground—then I rolled in and just… wow. Camping at the base of Mt. Hood with that mountain towering above the trees is something we straight up don’t get in Montana, and I was completely dumbfounded by how perfect it was. Because this was a “go on a whim” kind of night, I kept it simple: hot chocolate, Trader Joe’s cookie dunkers (deadly, by the way), and just soaking in the view while racing the sunset for drone footage, video, and photos all at once. There was a fire ban, so I ran my Howl propane fire pit since it’s fire-ban approved—obviously you can’t beat the sound and smell of a real fire, but having a legit flame vibe still makes the night. Next stop was Super Pacific for the Truma VarioHeat install, and I’m super stoked to compare it to my diesel heater for winter camping later this season.
