About This Video

What’s up, fellow builders? In this video I unbox and build the XRY GQUUUUUUX, a new bootleg kit, and I put it side-by-side with the Bandai version to see how close it really gets. Out of the box, the color accuracy is okay and it ends up looking about 90% identical to Bandai on display, so at a glance it can definitely pass. But once you start building, you’ll immediately feel where the shortcuts are—especially when you hit the head. Verdict time: the plastic quality sits right in the middle, somewhere between JMS and TT Hongli—so not bad, not great. The biggest challenge for me was the head build because it’s packed with small parts and I ran into fitting issues, so I had to do some sanding just to make everything line up clean. Some parts also like to fall off during handling, joints are okay at first but tend to loosen over time (especially if you pose a lot), and the stickers are still pretty bad. If you’ve got basic building experience, most of these issues are fixable, but with Bandai copies going below 1,000 pesos (around 15–20 USD), I strongly recommend just getting the OG instead.
