In this video I take a look at the Gaogao Z’gok Freedom Ver.—yes, that Ga Gao—basically a bootleg take on Bandai’s iconic amphibious beast. I went into this one with the usual “will it sink or will it swim?” mindset, then I built it out and checked the important stuff: plastic feel, cleanup, color accuracy, joints, and the overall finish once everything is together. Verdict time: I’m actually impressed. Up to date, this is the best Gao kit I’ve built. The plastic quality is good—not perfect out of the box—but once you do proper cleanup, it levels up nicely. Color accuracy is on point with the OG version, and the joints are surprisingly solid with no floppy drama. On top of that, you get some nice extras like the glowing red claws, a damaged head cover that looks authentic (not cheap), a free sturdy base stand, and water slide decals that look great. For the price, this one is a respectable alternative, and if you’re curious, I’d say go for it.
