About This Video

What’s up, fellow builders? In this video I unbox and review WEI MEI’s newest 1/144 release: the HG Riko Zaku. This is a bootleg copy of the Bandai Riko Zaku that first dropped in 2023, so I went in with the usual bootleg concerns—plastic feel, fit, joints, and how “premium” it actually looks once it’s together. Verdict time: the colors are a bit lighter/paler than the official release, but I honestly like the effect because it gives the Zaku a softer tone that still works really well on display—especially next to other Zakus, where it stands out in a good way. Plastic quality surprised me too: it feels sturdy and durable with no cheap or brittle vibes. They also included a lot of optional parts, which is a big plus for customization and replay value. Downsides? The joints—especially the hands—are a bit loose, but it’s an easy fix if you’ve been in the hobby for a while. Biggest surprise: the sticker quality is excellent and blends so well it can pass at a glance like the official P-Bandai version. Overall, thumbs up—great shelf presence and a solid, affordable Zaku for collectors, though if you can get the official Bandai one, go for it.
