About This Video

What’s up, fellow builders? In this video I unbox, build, and review a newly released bootleg kit from a new brand: the GBC Models Metal Build 1/144 Exia—basically an improved copy of Bandai’s HG Exia from Gundam 00. I go through the build experience and focus on the stuff that actually matters when you’re deciding if a bootleg is worth your money: plastic feel, color separation, panel lines, and how the joints behave once everything is assembled. My verdict: this kit surprised me in a good way. The plastic quality feels really premium—smooth, strong, and fun to work with, with no “cheap/chippy” feeling. The colors are super vivid (the blues, whites, and reds really pop), so Exia looks great even without paint. I also really like that the parts are undergated, so you get fewer stress marks and a cleaner build with less sanding. Panel lines are deep enough that panel line accent inks show up nicely without needing to rescribe. Joints are solid and it holds action poses well, but I’m not a fan of the limited arm articulation, and there are a few tight connections—just take your time and don’t force it. Overall, if you’re an Exia or Metal Build fan, this one’s worth checking out.
