In this video, I unbox, build, and review the SIHAI MODEL RG5503—basically a bootleg take on Bandai’s legendary RG Sazabi from Char’s Counterattack. The big question I wanted to answer is simple: can this third-party RG actually hold up, or even compete with the earlier wave of RG bootlegs from other companies? I went through the full build, checked the fit, tested the joints, and played around with the gimmicks to see if it’s just “cheap,” or actually worth your time. Verdict time: the plastic quality genuinely surprised me—it feels solid and premium enough for building and posing. Color separation is also a win since you get two tones of red straight out of the box, which adds depth even if you don’t plan to paint. All the key gimmicks are here and functional (funnels, cockpit hatch, and more), and I really appreciated that there are no foil stickers—instead you get waterslide decals plus a decal guide in the manual. That said, this is not a beginner-friendly kit: it’s complex, the fittings are really tight, and some panel lines are shallow or inconsistent, so expect extra work like sanding pegs and doing a bit of panel lining/scribing. Once it’s done though, it’s sturdy, tight, and holds dynamic poses well—but as I always say, Bandai will always be Bandai.
