About This Video

What’s up, fellow builders? In this video, I show you one of the easiest ways to level up your kits fast: dry brushing. I’m using the inner frame of the MG Barbatos by Super Brand as the base subject because it already looks good out of the box—solid structure, nice mechanical detail—but it can still look a bit plain and flat. Dry brushing is my go-to here because it’s beginner friendly, quick to do, and it gives a huge visual impact with very little effort. I walk you through the simple setup: paper towel/tissue, any silver or metallic paint (I used Gaahleri Kido Works metallic silver), an old brush, and a palette. The key is loading only the tip of the brush, wiping most of it off until it’s almost dry, then lightly dragging it across raised details and edges—no pressing hard, and doing light passes instead of trying to finish in one go. I also use my Gaahleri metallic markers for controlled pops of color, like giving tubing a bronze-gold metallic look. The end result is more depth, edges that stand out, and a frame that looks way more alive without heavy painting work.
