About This Video

I’ve got something a little bit different for you today—a review of the Vevor 12V 8KW diesel heater. Because we run laser machines in the garage, we’ve got to keep the door open for fume ventilation, and in winter that means we’re freezing our butts off. Vevor reached out and let us pick something up to $200, and a Chinese diesel heater seemed like the perfect way to stay warm without spending a fortune on electric heating. In this video I walk through what comes in the box, how the assembly goes (intake, exhaust, muffler, air filter, and ducting), and the few gotchas—like the exhaust pipe getting extremely hot and needing to be positioned so it won’t burn whatever it’s near. We raised the unit on a bit of timber to give the pipes clearance, and we used a 12V battery (you’ll want at least 15 amps). I also show the controls: auto vs manual mode, temperature settings, power levels (1–10), and how to program the timer. My overall take: the build quality is solid, it puts out an amazing amount of heat, the manual isn’t great (the English translation needs work), and it can be noisy at times—but all in all, I love this thing and it’s going to make winter laser engraving a whole lot nicer.
