In this video I put the LaserPecker 2 through its paces and show you what it’s really like to use a portable handheld laser engraver in the real world. I walk through what comes in the box, how quick the setup is (honestly, less than five minutes), and how the LaserPecker app works on iOS/Android (plus the desktop option over USB). I also show the three different focusing methods—using the shield, the included ruler, or the ranging rod—because getting focus right is everything for clean results. Then we get into the fun part: projects. I engrave on MDF (one of my favorites), popsicle-stick plant labels, wood tags, cardboard packaging, cardstock, food (macarons, oranges, hamburger buns), metal business cards, fabric, slate coasters, and even things around the house like boxes and tools. I also test cutting—3mm MDF and cardstock—and show what worked and what took a bit of dialing in. My overall take: the LaserPecker 2 is a neat little machine with great portability and sharp engraving, but the app not showing time estimates, the small work area, and no LightBurn support are real limitations to keep in mind.
