About This Video

In this video I’m walking you through the xTool F1 Slide Extension from unboxing to your first real project. I show you what comes in the kit (the slide, cable, ruler, screwdriver, and the clamps), how the grooves on the bottom sit right onto the F1 base, and how to hook the cable up and connect everything inside xTool Creative Space. Then we jump straight into calibration, because that’s the part that makes the whole extension work accurately. I take you step-by-step through the calibration prompts in Creative Space: attach and zero the ruler, line the slide up to the reference lines on the base, bring the ruler into the work area, and use the focus wheel so the two laser points line up. After that, it’s light tightening on the left and right screws, letting the machine run its automatic moves, and manually nudging the slide until the blue laser line sits perfectly on the ruler’s white line. Once it’s locked in, I show a first engraving on a long hardwood piece (I’m using my favorite font, Impact), then we try engraving + cutting on paulownia, batch engraving MDF coasters, and even scoring and cutting a box template. I also break down the two clamp styles and how I use them to keep long or batch jobs solid and repeatable.
