About This Video

Hi, I’m Paula from Go Laser Go, and in this LightBurn tutorial I walk you through exactly how I weld text so it engraves as one clean, connected shape. Welding is one of those little steps that can make a huge difference—especially with cursive fonts—because it stops letters from cutting as separate pieces and gives you that smooth, flowing look. I show a quick example where all you need to do is select the text and hit the Weld option, then switch to Fill so you can clearly see the result. Then I jump into the more common problem: plain text where the letters aren’t touching, so welding doesn’t work nicely right away. I cover two methods. First, I edit the text shape and use the Horizontal Space control to bring the letters closer until they overlap (yes, there’s usually a “problem child” letter that needs an extra nudge), then weld. Second, if you don’t want the text squished, I convert the text to a path so each letter becomes a shape you can move manually. I show how to group the inner pieces of letters (like e, d, o) so they don’t fall apart, align everything to the bottom, and then weld the selected shapes together for a cleaner, more refined result.
