In this video I’m engraving names onto stainless steel cutlery using the xTool F1, and I walk you through the whole process step-by-step in xTool Creative Space. I start by connecting the F1 to my computer with the USB cable, turning the machine on, and hitting “Connect Device” (and yes—if it doesn’t show up first go, I just refresh and double-check the cable). Then I add my text (I used my great‑granddaughter Freya’s name), choose my font (Chocolate Banana from Creative Fabrica), and set the job to Engrave. For stainless steel, I always recommend starting with xTool’s material list—but I don’t blindly trust it. I test first on spare cutlery until I’m happy, and for this project my best result was Infrared, 100% power, speed 50%, 2 passes, and 200 lines per cm. Because cutlery handles are slightly bowed, I use the L-shaped positioning piece and a couple bits of wood to help the handle sit nice and even, then I focus by lining up the blue and red lights. After that it’s framing, resizing the text to fit, and hitting Process/Start—then pressing the button on the machine to engrave. I ended up doing three engraved sets as gifts, and honestly this is a really thoughtful idea for a baby shower, a child’s birthday, or just a personal present any time.
