I’m talking full-frame field of view here, and I break down what’s really happening with perspective distortion and compression: wide lenses exaggerate foreground and push backgrounds away, while longer lenses compress scenes and make backgrounds feel closer (and usually cleaner) in the frame. I also run two practical tests: a landscape/compression example where the longer focal length makes the mountain look bigger and removes edge distractions, and a portrait sequence shot at the same aperture (f/2) to show background separation and how facial features change as you go tighter.
