The Fujifilm X100VI is honestly my favorite travel camera I’ve ever owned—but being locked into a 35mm equivalent can get limiting (and yeah… a bit boring). In this video I show the solution I’ve been testing: Viltrox’s new wide and tele conversion lenses for the X100 line. They effectively turn the X100VI into a three-focal-length setup: 28mm, 35mm, and 50mm full-frame equivalents, and I was genuinely surprised by how little image quality you give up. I took this exact setup to Japan and shot it “kind of blind,” expecting compromises. But once I got home and edited, I couldn’t really see a sharpness difference versus the native 23mm—so I ran proper tests. Center sharpness and contrast are basically the same, corner differences are minor, and with camera corrections on, chromatic aberration was a non-issue. Lightroom also recognizes the adapters and applies corrections automatically, and even the IBIS worked perfectly for video because the camera knows which converter is attached. I also go through the real compromises: screw-on mounting, moisture getting trapped in the rain, the tele converter’s size/weight, and a small (not great-looking) flare in some backlit shots. Overall though, this setup made the X100VI feel way more complete for street and travel.
