Color is everything in photography, and it’s genuinely the number one thing I’m looking for when I’m out shooting, planning a shoot, and even when I’m editing. In this video I break down why certain colors work beautifully together (and why others clash), using the foundations of color theory: how RGB works in digital photography, what color spaces like sRGB vs Adobe RGB actually mean, and why white balance (temperature + tint) is the base layer that sets the entire mood of an image. From there I get into color psychology and color harmony—complimentary, monochromatic, analogous, split complimentary, and triadic—so you can create contrast that feels intentional and balanced. Then I jump into Lightroom and show exactly how I tweak hue, saturation, and luminosity in the HSL panel to build separation and “pop” without forcing colors into something they never were. The big takeaway: get it close in-camera, stay consistent with your color intensity, and use Lightroom to refine what’s already there—because if the original color is too far off, the edit will fall apart fast.
