I finally caved and bought the Fujifilm X100VI, and after a month of using it every single day I’m confidently calling it a proper photography camera. In this video I skip the brochure specs and focus on what actually matters: the user experience. The stuff that genuinely won me over is the leaf shutter (being able to shoot flash at any shutter speed is underrated), the built-in ND filter for creative stills in harsh light, and the hybrid OVF that gives you that Leica-style frame-line experience without the $10k price tag. I also share a few practical tips for getting the most out of the OVF—like corrected AF frame for parallax—and when it’s smarter to swap to the EVF. I also talk about the parts that frustrate me, because it’s not perfect. The video “6.2K open gate” situation is misleading (you’ll hit a crop, and you need an external monitor to unlock the good stuff), and like my X-T5, autofocus can be pretty bad—so for video I’ve basically gone manual focus. Build-wise, the silver bottom plate scratching quickly is annoying for the price. But when it nails focus and the light is even, the 40MP files are stunning, the dynamic range is excellent (I use DR200 a lot), and the images edit beautifully in Lightroom—exactly why I wanted pro-level quality in a camera I’ll actually carry every day.
