About This Video

I’m asking you to sit with me for a second and imagine the worst news you’ve ever gotten—because that’s exactly where I was on July 15th, 2024. I was in my studio working on music when the calls started coming in back-to-back: Father Norman Fischer passed away in his sleep from a heart attack. My best friend of 14 years was here one day and gone the next—after we had just talked 12 hours earlier about life, travel, and plans we thought we had time to do. In this video I talk through what sudden grief did to me in real time: the fog, the crying every hour, the mental breakdowns, and even the ER visit when the chest pain and arm pain had me thinking I was having a heart attack—only to be told, “Bro, you good… it’s just the grief.” I share what it felt like carrying his casket and watching him lowered into the ground, and how going back into the school where his pictures and quotes are everywhere still hurts. But I also tell you the part people don’t expect: this pain changed me, and it brought a joy in me that I can’t even explain. And I leave you with a warning and a takeaway—be careful how you talk to people, because you never know when that conversation is your last, and you don’t have to live in constant arguing when there’s a peaceful way to communicate.
