In “I’m Not Him,” I’m speaking straight to the person who’s still bleeding from what the last relationship did to them. I apologize for the one who hurt you—but I also draw a line: don’t make me pay for his mistakes. I talk about how trust gets “pink slipped,” how feelings get fired, and how what looked like love can turn into a nightmare that leaves you guarded, shielded, and afraid to let anybody in again. But I don’t just point at your pain—I confess mine too. I’ve been led on before, fully persuaded it was headed to husband and wife, praying together, studying the Word together, writing and flowing together—only to find out it was never going to be. Through time and prayer, I got free from soul ties (emotional and mental), and that’s the takeaway: healing is possible, and it’s not rushed. In this piece I’m saying we can build trust moment by moment, day by day—Christ-centered, no illusions, no tricks—because only Jesus restores and heals. Even if I’m just a prototype, I want to model the kind of love that reflects Christ: gentle, patient, kind, and committed to what’s best for you.
