About This Video

In this Fatherless Documentary, I’m telling my story straight—no fluff. My father only came to see me one time, a week after I was born, and then he disappeared. I call him the “Houdini father” because he vanished into thin air, and I grew up with questions that kept cycling through my mind: Was he happy to see me? Did he ever picture us playing catch, or him being there on my wedding day? And on the other side of it, I talk about my mom—what it must’ve felt like watching him leave, and then years later getting the call that he had died. I also share what it did to me emotionally—how not even having a picture of my father left a scar in my heart, and how finally seeing photos of him years later came with mixed emotions: relief and rage at the same time. I explain how he lost his life and why fatherlessness isn’t just “sad,” it’s destructive—how it impacts fatherless daughters and fatherless sons differently, and why so many boys end up in gangs, crime, and prison. I lived that life too: drugs, guns, robberies, and facing real prison time. My takeaway is simple: if you feel the sting of your father’s absence, don’t isolate. Surround yourself with people who love you unconditionally, and seek professional help—something I should’ve done sooner. This is real pain that millions carry, but you don’t have to carry it alone.
