In this live session on my channel, I break down how I train dogs without aversive tools and methods—and yes, that includes relying on treats. My focus is relationship-based training using my Play & Praise Method, because stubborn breeds don’t need force to listen—they need real connection, clarity, and consistency. I also explain why so many “behavior problems” get easier when you stop trying to micromanage your dog and start meeting their daily needs the right way. I zoom in on the first of my dog’s daily five essential needs: exercise. Not too much, not too little—enough for your individual dog based on age, health, and energy level. I talk about how play is more than burning energy: it builds your bond, teaches your dog to rely on you, and even creates problem-solving moments where your dog learns, “My human can help me through challenges.” Then I answer questions about socialization and guests, including why I don’t like using treats in emotional moments (fear, excitement, anxiety), because most owners accidentally reward the wrong state of mind. Instead, I want your dog to read the “vibe” of the situation, while you provide structure through routine, leash management, and those five essentials.
