About This Video

In this video I react to some of the most popular dog training advice trending on YouTube, especially the stuff people copy when they’re dealing with leash pulling, reactivity, and “stubborn” dogs that ignore commands. Some of the advice is solid, but a lot of it is outdated, misleading, or built around putting dogs in triggering situations and then correcting them. My biggest issue is when trainers slap on a prong, choke chain, or shock collar, expose the dog to the trigger, and then punish the reaction. That’s not the time or place to train a reactive dog—your dog’s brain isn’t in the right mindset to learn. I also point out red flags: trainers who rely on remotes/e-collars in public, “place/bed” setups that often come from aversive systems, and the common sales pitch of “we use play and rewards too” while still pinching, shocking, or causing discomfort. I break down why depending on tools is not real training, and why fear and pain shut down learning. I also talk about food-based training and why I disagree with the message that praise and play don’t work without treats. My approach is simple: build the relationship, build communication, and train with play and praise—no treats, no force—so your dog can actually learn and stay happy.
