About This Video

In this live session on my new channel, I break down what “reactivity” really is—because it’s not a bad dog, and it’s not dominance. Reactivity is stress and anxiety showing up as barking, lunging, aggression, or “misbehavior.” If you want to handle a reactive dog without force or treats, you have to stop fighting the symptom and start fixing the stress underneath it. I teach my Daily Five Essential Needs formula, in order: exercise, training, socialization, care, and affection. Exercise is physical stimulation (not too little, not too much). Training is mental stimulation, and I don’t mean grabbing a bag of treats and drilling commands—I mean finding what your dog truly loves (fetch, swimming, play) and using that as the reward so you build real connection and control. Socialization is social stimulation, and I’m clear about this: not every dog likes dog parks, and forcing it can create more stress. Then we get into care as physiological stimulation—especially food. In my view, kibble is emergency food, and toxins can add stress to the system. When you meet these needs daily, you don’t just “manage” reactivity—you change the dog’s baseline.
