These recipes come from the Southern Living Party Cookbook. If you're looking for some great food from the 1970s for summer entertaining, this video is for you. ------------------------------ PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/CookingAllTheBooks INSTAGRAM: instagram.com/_cookingthebooks_ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/cookingallthebooks WEBSITE: https://www.cookingthebooks.net/ ------------------------------ BARBECUE PEANUTS (pg 387) 1Tbsp liquid smoke 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1/3c water 1 1/2c salted peanuts 1Tbsp butter, melted 1/4tsp garlic salt Combine liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, and water in small saucepan; bring to a boil. Add peanuts; let stand for 30 minutes. Drain off liquid; spread nuts in shallow baking pan and bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour. Toss nuts with butter and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with garlic salt. NOTE: I wasn't a fan of this recipe. If you want to make and serve some seasoned nuts, try this recipe instead: https://bit.ly/4dMuss5 WESTERN OLIVE DIP (pg 406) 1 - 8oz package softened cream cheese 1 to 2 Tbsp sour cream (heavy cream may be substituted) 1tsp chili powder 1 1/2 tsp grated onion 1/2c chopped ripe olives Beat cheese with other ingredients except olives in small bowl of electric mixer. When smooth and light, fold in olives. Chill thoroughly and serve with corn chips. DEVILED EGGS WITH SALTED ALMONDS (pg 385) 12 hard cooked eggs 4 Tbsp mayonnaise 4 Tbsp sour cream 1 tsp salt 3 tsp Dijon mustard 1/3c chopped salted almonds Cut eggs in half and scoop out yolks. Mash with mayonnaise and sour cream; add salt and mustard and blend well. Taste for seasonings; add more if too bland. You may want to add a dash of cayenne pepper.
