On my search for vintage ad recipes and recipes for Mardi Gras, I found this one and had to try it! This homemade macaroni and cheese recipe is incredibly easy, delicious, and satisfying. It would make a fantastic meatless main dish! If you're looking for foods for lent, this would be a great recipe to try. MARDI GRAS MACARONI AND CHEESE (original source: https://nestle.tumblr.com/image/150166790527) 1 large can (1 and 2/3c) evaporated milk 1/2tsp salt 2c cubed processed American cheese 1tsp dry mustard 1Tbsp steak sauce 4c cooked macaroni 1/4c chopped green pepper 1/4c chopped pimento Simmer evaporated milk and salt together in saucepan over low heat. Add processed cheese and melt together. Stir in dry mustard and steak sauce. Stir in green pepper and pimento. Stir in macaroni.
