PEANUT BUTTER BARS (pg 48) Set out 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch pan Sift together and set aside 1 1/4c flour 2tsp baking powder 1/4tsp salt Cream until butter is softened 1/2c butter or margarine 1/2c peanut butter 1 1/2tsp vanilla extract add gradually, creaming until fluffy after each addition 1/2c firmly packed brown sugar 1/2c white sugar add gradually, beating thoroughly after each addition 1 egg, well beaten Thoroughly blend in dry ingredients. Turn into pan and spread evenly. Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes. Cut into bars while warm. Remove to cooling rack. CHEESE 'N' BACON SANDWICH (pg 17) Spread bread slices with a Tempter Butter Spread*. Place slice of any desired cheese on one half of the buttered bread slices; top each with 2 slices crisp bacon and remaining bread slices. Tempter Butter Spread: Place in bowl and cream until softened 1/2c butter or margarine 1tsp lemon or lime juice Thoroughly mix in 1Tbsp fresh minced herbs, such as chives, dill, parsley, or mint. Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator.
