The Mathemagical Quilt is a fun and versatile pattern. In this video, I will show you how to make a smaller version of the original quilt for a Baby Mathemagical, a Skinny version where things are sized down a little bit, and a Mini version where we use some fairly small pieces to make a great little project. About This Video

In this video I’m riffing off my original Mathemagical Quilt pattern and showing you three fun ways to resize it: a Baby Mathemagical, a Skinny Mathemagical, and a Mini Mathemagical. The best part is that the construction stays the same as the original—cut your pieces, add the “grout” (those little sashing strips) to the top and right sides, press your seams open (always), and then sew it together in sections where the lines run straight through. For the baby version, I used a super cute fat quarter bundle and quickly learned I didn’t have enough background fabric to finish the outside edge. So I left the outer grout off and added a full border instead—slightly more brain-bending in the layout, but it worked beautifully. For the skinny version, I reduced the grout to 1 inch and tested with scraps first (because I was nervous!). That change meant recalculating everything: I landed on 6-inch squares with 3x6 and 3x3 pieces, and it definitely rewards precision because there’s less room for things to go wonky. Finally, the mini uses 4 1/2-inch squares (or 5-inch charm squares if you prefer) with 1-inch sashing, giving you a practical “mini” that still reads like Mathemagical—just shrunk down and extra adorable.
