Join me for this fun project inspired by the front tiles in my house. We've been renovating the house for almost a year and as soon as I saw the tiles for the entrance way, I was hooked! They look like a quilt and I love how they turned out. So I decided to make a small home decor piece to compliment the new floor. Final size: 22.5 x 22.5 Required fabric: background fabric plus two contrasting colours - From each fabric cut 4 squares 4x4 inches - Make HSTs by matching colours according to the instructions in the video - Square the HSTs to 3.5 inches - Lay out the centre medallion and add 3.5 inch corner squares - Add a two inch border of background fabric - Add another two inch board of contrasting fabric - Add a final 2.5 inch border of background fabric - Quilt as desired and add a binding Visit my website for lots of free patterns: www.bitsandpiecesquilting.com Follow me on Instagram at: bitspiecesquilt Shop My Favourite Items on Amazon! https://www.amazon.ca/shop/bitspiecesquilting Affiliate Disclosure ➤ As an Amazon Associate I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase, without any additional cost to you.

About This Video

Come on in—I’m taking you right into my renovated front entrance way, because the new tile floor is basically screaming “quilter lives here.” The minute I saw those light, graphic shapes, I couldn’t unsee a quilt pattern, so I pulled fabrics from my stash and built a small table topper to tie the house decor back to the floor. I walk you through my fabric picks (creamy beige background, gray, black, and a warmer yellow-beige) and how I’m not chasing a perfect-perfect match—just that obvious connection when you see the topper on the table or kitchen island. The project finishes at 22.5" x 22.5" and the center medallion is made from simple half-square triangles. I cut 4" squares, sew a 1/4" on both sides of a drawn line, slice, press seams open, and square to 3.5". Then I lay out a pinwheel-style center, fill the corners with 3.5" squares, and add borders to make it “float” before finishing with additional borders. Real talk: my Juki went to the shop, so I battled my older machine and those “really wide quarter-inch seams,” measured as I went, and still ended up with a topper I’m genuinely happy with. Tile floors are endless inspiration—and yes, I have a whole folder of them.
