About This Video

Happy New Year! In this video I’m giving you a quick tour of my truly disastrous sewing room and talking through what I’m doing to reset my space for 2026. After a busy holiday season, the mess has started to feel like it’s squeezing my creativity—dust bunnies included—so I’m aiming for a realistic “day or two” reset, not a multi-day marathon. The big goal is to clear my head by clearing my surfaces, so I can get back to sewing scrappy quilts with joy (and a little more calm). I walk you through my priority list: getting my scrap system back on track (because I’ve been lazily dumping offcuts into random bins), wrangling batting and backing leftovers, and making some Franken-batting by sewing larger pieces together and sorting the rest. I’m also planning a deep clean, a machine dusting, and a quick pass through old quilt guild magazines—keeping patterns that genuinely interest me and recycling the rest. On top of that, I’m rethinking my workflow so my tabletop stays clear, and I’m gathering all my scattered notes into my idea book to start planning projects and videos for the year. Finally, I’m tackling the “little jobs” (mending, sewing a travel-quilt patch on) and admitting I’ve got a few unfinished quilts that need attention—plus a baby quilt I don’t like yet, which we’ll definitely talk about. My hope is that this reset sets me up to make the most of my fabric bits and pieces all year long.
