I emptied out last month’s beauty basket and rebuilt a fresh one for February, but not before doing a pretty hefty January makeup declutter. My biggest priorities every month are: 1) pulling what I need for the videos I’m filming, 2) choosing seasonally-appropriate shades (I’m paler right now, so it’s time for my lighter foundations), and 3) testing the “on the fence” products so I can stop holding onto stuff just because it might work in a different season. I’m trying to downsize, and the only way that happens is if I actually use things and make real decisions. In this video I walk you through what I’m letting go of and why—lots of shimmer/cream shadows that are too similar, shades that pull too orange/too pink/too purple on my more desaturated coloring, and a handful of sticky or makeup-lifting cream blush/highlighter formulas. I also explain how I’m planning my content this month, including weekly foundation reviews (Chanel Sublimage, Dior options, MAC Face & Body, and House Labs) because I miss the days of real swatches and real wear tests. Then I shop my own drawers to build the basket: Viseart palettes for a dedicated video, Tom Ford cream shadows, a few blushes and powders to compare, and some bronzers/highlighters I need to either use or finally part with.
