In this video I’m doing my December monthly beauty basket and a declutter, and it’s basically me being really honest about what I’m actually using versus what’s just sitting in a drawer. My monthly basket is how I keep myself testing things (new-to-me products, neglected products, and “is this even working for me?” items), and it also helps me catch stuff that I only meant to use when my skin tone changes seasonally. I start with the declutter and tell you exactly why each item is leaving—whether it’s a formula issue, packaging that drives me insane, shades I know I won’t reach for, or products that just aren’t cosmetically elegant on my skin. A few themes come up: I’m over keeping palettes for one shade, I’m picky about undertones because I’m more desaturated/olive, and I’m not forcing myself to like things that make me look textured, chunky, or “old clown” (yes, I said it). I also talk about how some holiday “blockbuster” sets can be a great skincare deal, but the makeup quality is often not the same as the brand’s regular formula. Then I walk you through what’s in my December basket—older Becca palettes to re-test, blushes I’m unsure about, a bunch of Chanel/Dior/YSL items I want to use more, and several matte neutral palettes I’m considering comparing in a future video.
