About This Video

In this Part 1 of my Horror Escape Game course, I’m starting everything from a fresh Unreal Engine 5 project and setting the foundation for the full series. This game is going to be a fun (and scary) escape experience where a ghost AI roams the house, chases you if she sees you, and kills the player—while you’re trying to find keys and unlock the main door to escape. The overall concept is inspired by “Granny”: you wake up the next day after dying, and you’ll have 5 days total to get out. In this video, I focus on the beginner-friendly setup: creating the project using the Third Person template (Blueprints), making a new level, and converting the character into a proper first-person POV by attaching the camera boom to the head socket and smoothing the movement with camera rotation lag. After that, I add a flashlight (spotlight) to the camera so it follows the head movement, then I build a night environment by turning the directional light into moonlight and controlling exposure with an unbound post-process volume. Finally, I show how to use the FAB library to add the “Good Sky” pack and pick a preset like “Midnight Storm” for a horror vibe. Next video, I’ll start designing the horror house from start to end.
