About This Video

In this video I tested the Meizu STARV VIEW AR glasses, which basically let you carry around a “188-inch TV” that only weighs about 74g (mine measured closer to 75–76g). I go through the unboxing (glasses, USB-C to USB-C cable, and a carry case) and I genuinely love the little hidden pouch in the case for the cable—small detail, but super convenient. Build-wise, the arms are plastic so they don’t scream “luxury”, but the lenses and hinges feel solid and well-made, and the nose cushions were comfortable for my face. The main event is the display: a big, vibrant 188-inch virtual screen at 1080p with a 120Hz refresh rate. On paper 700 nits doesn’t sound huge in 2025, but I tested these outside in bright sun and had no real issues seeing content. Audio surprised me too—open-ear speakers won’t give you deep bass, but voices and general clarity are good, and sound leakage is minimal unless someone’s right next to you. I also cover features like the built-in prescription dials (a proper game changer) and the MyVu app modes. But there are caveats: it needs a compatible USB-C device (only 1 of my 4 phones worked), gaming needs an extra adapter, laptop use isn’t as perfect as you’d think, and the lenses are fingerprint magnets with a bit of “people can see what you’re watching” reflection.
