About This Video

We’ve kind of accepted that if you want flagship performance and proper all‑day battery, you’re going to end up carrying a heavy brick. But after 30 days with the Xiaomi 17, I can honestly say it’s trying to break that rule. You’re getting a compact 6.3-inch phone with super thin bezels, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 power, and somehow a massive 6,330mAh battery stuffed inside. On paper it’s basically the holy grail: speed, size, and battery all in one. In this video I go through the real-world stuff that matters: performance, thermals, cameras, screen, speakers, and battery. It flies through everyday use and even beats my OnePlus 13 in Geekbench (3,464 single / 10,243 multi), but long gaming sessions can get it hot and you’ll feel throttling because it’s compact. Camera-wise, the 50MP trio with Leica colour modes is genuinely strong (I stuck to “Authentic”), with great detail and natural colours, though lens-to-lens colour matching could be tighter and the ultrawide loses a bit of detail when you zoom in. The biggest compromise is HyperOS 3—mostly good, but I’ve had occasional app lag (especially the camera) and the bloatware situation is still annoying on an expensive phone. If you can live with a few OS hiccups, this is an absolute compact battery king.
