🚂 Episode 32 of Tina Tries is officially rolling into the holidays! This time, I’m taking on a festive challenge: printing, assembling, and wiring a working motor with a switch for a holiday train. Yes, that includes soldering, which always adds a little extra spice to the build. From 3D printed parts to a powered train that actually moves, I walk through the process, the hiccups, and the “oh hey, that worked” moments along the way. If you’ve ever been curious about adding simple electronics to your prints (or just enjoy watching me figure things out), this one’s for you. 🎄🚆 Whether you’re here for the holiday vibes, beginner-friendly electronics, or just to see if I accidentally burn myself: welcome aboard. ⸻ 🔗 Links & Credits Christmas Train Set Model Link (including the track connector file): https://makerworld.com/models/81863?appSharePlatform=copy Willmck‘s Page: https://makerworld.com/@Willmck?appSharePlatform=copy ⸻ Want to print your own? 🛠️ Materials Used (Amazon Affiliate Links) • Sunlu Black PLA: https://amzn.to/4axdX3p • Flashforge Aurora Red PLA: https://amzn.to/4qnpN4P • Flashforge Aurora Green PLA: https://amzn.to/4p5XbMj • Plaid Wood Burner Tool: https://amzn.to/4gQoYxW • Plaid wood Burner Accessory Kit: https://amzn.to/4npAtyN • AA Batteries: https://amzn.to/44EDK63 • DC Motor, Battery Holder, and Switch Kit: https://amzn.to/3YuzAdD ⸻ Recording your own build? 🎥Video Tech I’m Using (Amazon Affiliate Links) • MacBook Pro: https://amzn.to/4fUDiVJ • MacBook Air: https://amzn.to/4fYodlZ • Main camera: iPhone: https://amzn.to/3Kgci7p • iPad Pro: https://amzn.to/484Eioo • DJI Microphone: https://amzn.to/4fQZsYG • Lighting Kit: https://amzn.to/4mZvggp ⸻ 🛍️ Want your own piece of Tina Tries history? About This Video

Episode 32 is me trying to get a 3D printed holiday train from “cute pile of parts” to “it actually moves.” I print the Christmas Train Set model, do the whole assembly process, and then jump into the part that made me the most nervous: wiring a little DC motor with a battery pack and an on/off switch. Yes, this is my first time soldering on-camera, so it’s very much a try-to-finish journey with a few hiccups and a couple of "oh hey, that worked" moments. If you’ve been wanting to add simple electronics to your prints but you’re intimidated, this is the exact level I’m working at—beginner-friendly and very honest. I show how I approach the wiring, how I fit the motor into the build, and what I do when things don’t line up perfectly. The big takeaway is that you don’t need a full electronics bench to make a print interactive—just a basic motor kit, batteries, patience, and a willingness to learn as you go.
