About This Video

My friends, welcome to an adventure—this time I took the electric motorcycle deep into an extremely remote national forest and just started exploring. No destination, no plan beyond this: ride gravel until I find a place to camp. Along the way I hit old forest roads, dealt with cold wind in the 50s, and even had a trail dead-end on me. I also managed to lose the drone into a tree (yes, I found it), which is just part of the fun when you’re out there figuring it out as you go. I also break down why I ended up with an electric motorcycle instead of gas: price first and foremost, plus the quiet factor. This e-moto is roughly the equivalent of a 300–350cc bike (from what I’ve read—motorcycles aren’t my area), it’ll do about 60 mph, and it claims up to 80 miles of range. The silence is a pro for stealth and a con in bear country, and I talk honestly about both. I found a closed forestry road, rolled right in, and scored a flat, well-kept campsite with a fire pit—absolutely perfect. From there it’s the simple stuff done right: tent up first (rainforest living taught me that), coffee, dinner, and a very small, carefully managed fire because it’s dry and there are wildfires nearby. The next morning I pack up in 40° dry air, note that all my lightweight gear worked great, and ride about 20 miles back out—strength and honor.
