My friends, in this episode I’m taking a hard look at the Big Agnes Soul Kitchen Table—Big Agnes’ largest camp table—and I’m going over the pros, the cons, and especially the price. I’ve reviewed a lot of Big Agnes gear over the years because I’ve genuinely liked the company: pricey, yes, but typically excellent quality. The problem is that over the last couple of years, their pricing has shifted into what I consider insane territory, and this table is a perfect example of that trend. I show you what you get, how fast the frame goes together, and the basic specs: 24" x 24" tabletop, about 27.5" tall, 4 lb 8 oz, and it packs down to roughly 28" long. The build quality is very good—no loose threads, solid stitching—and setup/breakdown is easy with a storage bag that actually fits everything without a fight. But the tabletop is fabric, it stains easily from normal cooking splatter, and there’s no real way to clean it back to new. Where this table really falls apart is value and performance. It’s not the best at anything, and it flexes and bows with surprisingly little weight concentrated in one spot. I paid $130 years ago and still felt it was too expensive; at $230 today, I do not recommend it at all. At that price, it simply doesn’t make sense.
